Under Matakana’s summer sky, Summer Roadie brings together some of New Zealand’s most loved artists for a full-day celebration of Aotearoa music.
From soulful funk and roots reggae to conscious hip hop and high-energy drum & bass, this Waitangi Day event spans genres, generations, and good times, a true reflection of the sounds that defines us.

Just down the road from surf beaches, wineries, and Goat Island, The Stables is the kind of spot that makes a festival feel like a mini holiday. Sun on your face, bass in the garden, friends on the lawn Summer Roadie is Matakana at its best.

THE LINE-UP
Getting Here – LIMITED Return Shuttle Buses
We are running a small ticketed bus service which is limited per location. If we find the demand for this is high we will increase the buses per location at our decision and discretion.

Pick Up Locations & Departure Times
Warkworth, Baxter Street, by the i-SITE
– Departures: 1.30pm and 2.30pm @ $34.95+GST
Snells Beach, Bus Stop at Snells Shopping Centre
– Departures: 1.45pm and 2.30pm @ $34.95+GST
Omaha, Meiklejohn Way Bus Stop on Omaha Drive
– Departures: 1.45pm and 2.30pm @ $34.95+GST
Please arrive 10 minutes before your booked time. You must board the specific departure time selected at checkout.
Getting Home
Return buses begin departing the venue from approximately 10.00pm. All return services run on a first-in, first-served rotation until every passenger has been transported. Please be patient during loading, our team will move everyone as quickly and safely as possible. If you have missed the first rotation we ask that you are patient until the bus returns.
Wristbands & Boarding Rules
When your ticket is shown at your pick-up location, you’ll receive a wristband. Your wristband is required to board the return bus.
No wristband = no return bus entry.
If you miss your inbound bus or arrive by other means, you can collect your wristband at the event’s main check-in area on arrival.
Safety, Behaviour & Bus Policies
We have a zero intoxication and zero aggression policy for all shuttle services. Anyone who is visibly intoxicated or behaves aggressively towards staff may be refused boarding.
We also operate a strict no-alcohol and no-drugs policy on all buses. Any alcohol or drugs found on board will result in removal from the bus and refusal of onward travel.
These policies are in place for the safety of passengers, staff, and drivers.

• Additional buses may be added if demand requires
• Please allow extra time at the end of the night as buses load based on demand
• Our bus team is working hard to get everyone home quickly and safely

EVENT FAQ’s

Legacy Fest takes place at The Stables Events Venue and Secret Garden, inside Matakana Country Park, just 50 minutes north of Auckland.

Gates open at 12.00 pm with music until approx. 9.30 pm.

Legacy Fest is an R18 event. Please bring valid photo ID.

Legacy Fest is an outdoor event and will go ahead rain or shine, unless weather conditions make it unsafe. Bring a jacket just in case!

Free parking is available within Matakana Country Park. Please note there is no parking directly outside The Stables, as this area will be used for food trucks and portaloos. We recommend parking near St Andrews Church and allowing extra time for arrival.
Please note that The Stables does not manage bookings for the Matakana Caravan Park. If you plan to camp, contact them directly to arrange your stay.
We’re currently working on a ticketed bus service to make travel easier details will be shared closer to the event.

The venue has flat-ground access throughout the park and within all event areas. Disabled parking will be available directly outside Smiths and The Stables, with clear signage on the day. If you require specific assistance or have accessibility questions, please phone us on 09 422 4040 before the event.

If you would like to plan ahead here are some options :

Yes! Expect a line-up of local food vendors plus bar service from inside The Stables. A selection of wine, beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic options will be available throughout the day. We have Paywave, EFTPOS and cash tills available, however there are no eftpos machines within the park.

Outside food and beverages are not permitted, but there’s plenty to choose from on site.

Bring a hat, sunscreen, ID, and a refillable water bottle. Picnic blankets are welcome, but please leave chairs at home. This is a boutique event in an intimate garden setting, if you’re relaxing near the dance area, be mindful of those moving around you so everyone can enjoy the space.

Absolutely. Matakana Village, Omaha, Warkworth, Snells Beach and Point Wells all offer great accommodation within a 10-20 minute drive. Book early as this is a popular weekend. For a one-stop shop please visit Matakana Coast Tourism. Please note: there is no camping or sleeping permitted in cars.

Re-entry is permitted only with an official event wristband, no exceptions. Security will be on site throughout the day, and anyone intoxicated or found drinking in the carpark or at their vehicle will be refused entry or re-entry. Please respect the venue and our team so everyone can enjoy a safe, relaxed event.
