The road to Matakana starts here! Legacy Fest returns for Auckland Anniversary Weekend with a lineup built around the songs that defined New Zealand summers.

The Black Seeds. Zed. Special Guest Harry Lyon (Hello Sailor). White Chapel Jak. Rumpus Machine. Big Elastic.

These are the artists that soundtracked road trips north, bach weekends, backyard parties, and every summer in between. One stage, one big day, and a crowd that knows every word.

Gates open 1pm. Music until 9.45pm. Good food, cold drinks, open air, and a setting worth making the drive for.

VIP EXPERienCE

Legacy Fest VIP gives you your own space to enjoy the day, without changing the show everyone's there for.

You'll have access to the VIP-only indoor Stables bar, a front-of-stage viewing area, and tap beer, wine and cocktails on hand all day.

When you're ready to eat, order straight off the Stables Kitchen menu and collect, then settle into indoor or covered outdoor seating with a clear view back to the stage.

It's a different way to experience Legacy Fest, made for those who want a bit more comfort and ease around the music. Strictly limited to 100 tickets.

Tucked away in paradise

The Stables and Secret Garden sit inside Matakana Country Park, 50 minutes north of Auckland. It's the kind of place that makes a festival feel like a secret rather than an event.

Make a long weekend of it. Book a bach, hit the surf at Omaha or Tawharanui, wander the art trails or eco walks, spend an afternoon at the wineries, and finish it all at Legacy Fest.

LEGACY FEST EVENT FAQ’s

  • Legacy Fest takes place at The Stables Events Venue and Secret Garden, inside Matakana Country Park, just 50 minutes north of Auckland. This event is NOT in the Matakana Country Park oval.

  • Gates open at 1.00 pm, with live music from 1 pm until approx 9.45 pm.

  • Legacy Fest is an R18 event. Please bring valid photo ID.

  • Legacy Fest is an outdoor event and will go ahead rain or shine, unless weather conditions make it unsafe. Bring a jacket just in case!

    The indoors of Stables is allocated as bars, and food and portaloos will also be directly outside the venue

    We have done our best to accommodate as many seats as possible, whilst still making it comfortable, and we have a capacity of 1000.

  • Free parking is available within Matakana Country Park including the oval which can be accessed by the St Andrews church. Take note that this is at your own discretion based on your vehicle type and taking into consideration the rain we have recently had.

    Please note there is NO parking directly outside The Stables, as this area will be used for food trucks and portaloos. We recommend allowing extra time for arrival.

    Please note that The Stables does not manage bookings for the Matakana Caravan Park. If you plan to camp, contact them directly to arrange your stay.

  • The venue has flat-ground access throughout the park and within all event areas. Disabled parking will be available directly outside Smiths and The Stables, with clear signage on the day. There is also disabled toilet access inside the venue that is available for those in need. If you require specific assistance or have accessibility questions, please phone us on 09 422 4040 before the event.

  • Yes! We will have a food vendor available on site which will include GF, VG, V and DF options.

    A selection of wine, beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic options will be available throughout the day.

    We have Paywave, EFTPOS and cash tills available, however there are no eftpos machines within the park.

    NO PASSOUTS.

  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted, but there’s plenty to choose from on site.

  • Bring weather appropriate gear (hats, sunscreen or jackets in case of rain), ID, and a refillable water bottle. Please leave chairs at home. This is a boutique event in an intimate garden setting, if you’re relaxing near the dance area, be mindful of those moving around you so everyone can enjoy the space.

  • Absolutely. Matakana Village, Omaha, Warkworth, Snells Beach and Point Wells all offer great accommodation within a 10-20 minute drive. Book early as this is a popular weekend.
